Begun in 1990 with generous gifts from the Pocock family, and significant financial support from others, the Rowing Center opened in 1994, and now serves as home to several rowing clubs and many individual rowers of all ages. With five boat bays and space for about 200 shells of all sizes, as well as a large workout room with ergometers, weights, and exercise equipment, locker rooms, a coaches’ room, a conference room, and offices, the Pocock Memorial Rowing Center is the premier rowing facility in the Pacific Northwest.
The center is home to over 400 rowers, eight Seattle rowing clubs and men and women training for the U.S. National Rowing Team. Seattle's Pocock Rowing Center is open to anyone or any organization with an interest in rowing - whether that interest is in learning the sport for the first time, junior rowing, recreational or competitive master's rowing or developing world-class boat speed.
