POCOCK DAY

Celebration of Legacy

Every year, in early July, the entire community of the Pocock Rowing Center gathers to celebrate the legacy of George and Stanley Pocock.  We race a ham'n'egger and share a meal.   Athletes from 12 - 82 are represented in this tradition that affirms the idea of rowing as a lifelong sport, and that we are all stewards of 1PRC.

We’ll pick team captains, then pull names from a hat to form teams.  The bigger the turnout, the bigger the competition! Masters, juniors, scullers, sweepers, independent rowers, coaches and coxswains are all welcome to join in the fun!!

RSVP above. This will help us ensure we have enough safety launches (and mimosas). Forget to pre-register? Show and row anyway!!

Each team will race an 8+, a 4x, a 2- and a 1x.  Once teams* are divided up, it’ll be up to you to come up with a team name and your fastest line up for each boat class!

Bring your friends; non-PRC members will aid in time handicaps.  1k times will be age/gender/boat class adjusted. We’ll add up each team’s times, and the lowest total time will win, and your team name will go down in infamy on the new Pocock Day Trophy.
