Parking at the George Pocock Memorial Rowing Center

PARKING OVERVIEW

PRC members, PYR athletes, staff, and guests of the GPRF, PYR and PRC are welcome to park in the Triangle Parking Lot or “small lot” as mapped in the image below.

General Notes:

  • Parking is for use by athletes while rowing or staff while working.

  • Independent patrol staff issue tickets to unauthorized vehicles.

  • 40 Spaces in "The Triangle" between Harvard Ave E and Eastlake Ave E are fully available to members.

  • 12 spaces in the small lot at 3221 Eastlake Ave E are available before 8 AM and after 5 PM.

  • Please be aware that the parking lot across Fuhrman Ave from the Center is not managed or policed by the GPRF, PYR or PRC, and anyone choosing to park there does so at their own risk. Since WSDOT decommissioned the lighting, the area is extremely dark during early morning and evening hours, significantly increasing the risk of car prowls and pedestrian accidents. We urge all members and parents to remain vigilant and prioritize your personal safety, as we have no control over the security or maintenance of that space.

More information about Parking:

In 2018, the George Pocock Rowing Foundation formed an LLC, Eastlake Community Service Partners (ECSP), to secure parking for our clients and members. The members of ECSP share these spaces: George Pocock Rowing Foundation, Home Instead, Seattle Spine and Sports Medicine, and Wallace-Solhaug Dentistry. Sushi Kappo Tamura and Eastlake Chiropractic. ECSP also rents parking spaces to other users to help defray the expense of securing and operating the parking lot.

The Triangle Parking Lot is leased from WSDOT while their contractors complete the "Rest of the West" SR 520 project.  This is expected to be completed in 2030.

“It is hard to make the boat go as fast as you want to. The enemy, of course, is the resistance of the water, as you have to displace the amount of water equal to the weight of the men and equipment, but that very water is what supports you and that very enemy is your friend. So is life: the very problems you must overcome also support you and make you stronger in overcoming them.”
